Portfolio Prep

A sneak peek to what I do in Graphics
First Year's response to a Christmas Card design project for St Patrick's Church Community for the Homeless Campaign. I wanted to base mine mainly on the homeless and how we consider them as not there so I tried giving them a haunted/robotic look made out litter.
This was made towards my Emotive Music and Dance Festival poster which I was really proud of to achieve from the original photo of Julie Andrews in The Sound of Music. I made a disturbing stencil-like image in order to attract a teen audience.
This isn't a final piece towards my British Stamp design but i made this while experimenting techniques with editing drawings on Photoshop. I like how I created texture and use a limited amount of colours to give this effect.

Experimentation of my original piece

Altering the snowflakes to look less childish and soppy i created blurry white spots to have the same snowflake effect.

By brightening the iris I tried bringing out the eye more so it grabs attention and looks more alive and wild.
Brightening up the image to make the figure more robotic and machine-like. To accentuate that metallic look I found it gave the eye a more sinister look.
By simply using the Smudge Tool I was able to smooth down the skin creases to make the eye look less human.
Using the Fill Layer Tool I was able to create an oil painting effect which allowed the eye to look less sinister and sharp.

Smart Ideas

Presenting ads in a new light: looking at things in a different way I found this practical ad inspiring because it interacts with people, its attractive, bold and simple and still gives out its simple message easily. (created by IBM)

First year into my fine art

Pieces I am most proud of from Fine Art
Rhythm drawing where you make a stroke along with the beat of the drum from arm's length of the model, I found that by using this technique I could capture the model's figure and shape quicker and more accurately than from drawing over it.
experimentation with light and colour to capture the model's shape and the folds of the fabric she is laying on, also by sticking pieces of paper over i can layer and texturise the image giving it a more 3D effect.

Advertising! Advertising! Advertising!

Out of a choice of 4 options i had the choice of creating: an Organic Food Festival poster, a fashion billboard based for a shop called "Coast", a poster to encourage people to cycle, and a poster for the opening of a new aquarium.
My ad for the aquarium opening will be mainly aimed at teenagers as most aquariums have young children and families to attend, to do this my design will be based on graffiti art of fish so that it doesn't look patronizing.

Introduction to Business cards

First project after summer holidays to create our own personal business card designs.
By using an object that most represented me and showing how creativity materializes out of my head and comes out as bright ideas (represented by the monarch butterflies).

Experimentation with my original piece with different effects on Photoshop CS6

By changing the "Curves" of the image i am able to make slight changes to the colour.

I like how by 'extruding' the image it gives an abstract effect.

This leaves a mystic effect as we can only see as far as the light shows
Only using the outline of colour and shape
Invertion of colours
I like this edit the most by changing the colour saturation

Christmas card designs

Had to quickly do some designs in class, might recognise the style :)
